PROCESS SUSTAINABILITY

Tex is committed to sustainable manufacturing

We look at every aspect of our value chain to be more efficient and to reduce our footprint.

Air Quality Monitoring System

Tex is committed to reduce air particle emission by its production units. Thermal fluid heaters are used to feed hot water for various production processes such as Dyeing, Electroplating and others. Tex India’s sustainability team took up this project in 2015 with a base target of “Zero Particulate Emission by 2030”. As a first phase of the project the company has established a series of exhaust air treatment systems. The company has been able to bring 70% of reduction in emissions level year on year.

Water Recycle & Reuse

Freshwater is one of the rare resources available on earth. If we don't deal with water responsible today it poses a serious that for the future of our society. As per a study 21 of the 37 world major aquifers are receding. We have implemented a closed loop water management system in India. A series of water treatment stages helps us in recovering 85% of waste water generated by the system. After this we plan to implement this in all 4 manufacturing units.

Rain Water Harvesting

Tex is a pioneer In water saving and recycling measures such as rainwater harvesting, and set up its rainwater set up long before green buildings became the norm. Tex’s rainwater harvesting setup is a Model Site for the Center of Science and Environment(The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a public interest research and advocacy organisation based in New Delhi. CSE researches into, lobbies for and communicates the urgency of development that is both sustainable and equitable. You can read more about CSE here)

Tex also has water treatment facilities including ETP, STP, and the water from these processes is used for gardening purposes. Further, since the the climate in the places where we run our factories is dry and arid, we reuse a part of reclaimed water for evaporative cooling purposes.

Renewable Energy

WIND POWER

Tex has also invested in renewable energy, and owns windmills in parts of India where there is abundance of wind energy. Tex aims to have a negative energy footprint by 2022.

SOLAR POWER

Solar energy plant was installed in Tex India factory in 2015. Electricity generated by Tex's renewable energy projects (solar plant and windmill) is equivalent to more than one fourth of the energy consumed by Tex India plant.

Process Excellence

One of the key things in Tex Bangladesh is how we utilize space. Tex is the highest output per sq. ft factory. We have freed up space using automation, and investing in high capacity output machines. The spare space is used to create green areas inside the factory, in which we grow local environment-specific trees. In Dhaka, we are growing Areca Palms which also clean air and provide sound dampening to bring down noise levels, as well as keep humidity in check. These green areas within the company also serve as a constant reminder to our team members to not waste resources like water. We have over 200 trees / plants inside the factory in Dhaka, and this grows every time we free some space using KAIZEN.

Artificial Intelligence

Once of the key challenges we faced in our endeavours to sustainability was monitoring. The company was putting so much efforts in this direction that without proper monitoring this was not going to give a long term impact. Further to this the team also realised that the first step towards sustainability is reducing process waste on its own shop floor. In 2015 Tex implemented an AI based ERP system that not only monitors the optimum resource planning but also highlights any deviations or extra wastage on the machines.
